Okay, Sloppy Joes is not exactly on my healthy eating list, but sometimes with kids, I just have to make this kind of stuff for dinner. So I put it over a slice of whole wheat bread and eat a salad with it. I love doing the crockpot thing, I make everything the night before, set in frig and put in crockpot in the morning! I got this basic recipe from 'Purdy Good Cook' off of recipezaar.com and changed it to what I would use.

Recipe Ingredients for Not exactly your diet food - Sloppy Joes

3 lbs ground beef
1 cup chopped onions
2 tsp italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt (I use garlic sea salt)
28 oz tomato sauce
16 oz tomato soup, undiluted
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbsp mustard
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp pepper (I use garlic pepper)

Recipe Directions for Not exactly your diet food - Sloppy Joes

  1. Cook onion in large skillet until transparent.

  2. Add beef, sprinkled with italian seasoning and salt on medium-high heat until no longer pink, stirring to break up meat. Drain fat.

  3. Transfer meat mixture to crockpot. Add remaining ingredients, stir well to combine.

  4. Cover, cook on low for 4 to 6 hours.

  5. Serve on fresh whole wheat buns or bread!
