Recipe Ingredients for North Carolina Pulled Pork

4 lb pork shoulder, bone in
1 red onion, sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup water
3 dried chili peppers

Recipe Directions for North Carolina Pulled Pork

  1. Layer the onions on the bottom of a large crock pot.

  2. Place the pork on top of the onions.

  3. Blend the remaining ingredients, and pour over pork.

  4. Cook on low for 10 hours or longer.

  5. Remove bone(s), shred meat and serve over buns.
