Recipe Ingredients for Nola Style Okra and Shrimp

1 pound of okra
1 1/2 pounds of shrimp
16 oz of stewed tomatoes
1 cup of frozen corn
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp pepper
2 cups of water

Recipe Directions for Nola Style Okra and Shrimp

  1. Slice okra discarding top.

  2. Heat olive oil over medium heat in pot.

  3. Add okra to pot cooking down until okra begins to soften.

  4. Add entire can of stewed tomatoes and cook of medium low heat for 45 minutes or until okra is completely soft and stew begins to thicken.

  5. Add water and bring to boil

  6. Add corn, cover and reduce to a simmer

  7. Season to taste

  8. Add shrimp and continue to simmer for roughly 5-10 minutes
