Here is a semi-healthy treat that you can make for yourself and family at home. No butter, oil or egg yolks. Play around with chips/fruit/nut combinations to make it your own.

Recipe Ingredients for No Butter Cookies

1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 egg whites
1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup coconut
1/4 cup walnuts

Recipe Directions for No Butter Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and grease 2 baking sheets.

  2. Beat egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff.

  3. In seperate bowl combind sugars, vanilla and applesauce. Fold egg into applesauce mixture.

  4. In a medium bowl combind flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Fold into applesauce mixture.

  5. Stir in oats and chips/fruit/nuts.

  6. Drop rounded teaspoons on to prepared baking sheets. Bake until set and lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Remove immediately and cool on wire rack.
