Recipe Ingredients for New England Style Clam Chowder

32 1/2 ounces clams, with juice, 5 cans
20 ounces clam juice
1 pint heavy cream
4 tablespoons margarine
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon flour
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup carrots, chopped
55 ounces idaho potatoes, diced, about 5 potatoes
1/2 pound bacon
2 teaspoons chicken boullion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1 teaspoon black pepper

Recipe Directions for New England Style Clam Chowder

  1. Heat pan over medium high heat

  2. Add bacon and cook until crispy

  3. Reduce heat to medium and add onions, cook 1 minute

  4. Add garlic, celery and carrots, cook 1 minute

  5. Add butter

  6. Add 1/2 of the potatoes and cook 5 minutes

  7. Meanwhile, in a microwave safe bowl, cook remaining potatoes on high for 4 minutes. Lightly mash the potatoes and add to pan.

  8. Drain clams, reserving liquid.

  9. Add all clam juice and seasoning to pan.

  10. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.

  11. When potatoes are tend, add clams.

  12. Mix cream, flour and eqq yolks and add to pan, stirring frequently.

  13. Cook until desired thickness has been reached.
