This is an easy crust to handle and can be refrigerated for up to two weeks. Makes enough for two 10-inch and one 9-inch crust. Can be used for berry cobblers, pecan pies, chicken pot pie, etc.

Recipe Ingredients for Never-Fail Pie Crust

3 cups flour
1 1/4 cups shortening
1 tsp salt
1 egg
5 tbsp water
1 tbsp vinegar

Recipe Directions for Never-Fail Pie Crust

  1. Cut shortening into flour and salt with pastry blender.

  2. In separate bowl, beat egg well.

  3. Add water and vinegar to egg and pour liquid mixture into flour mixture all at once.

  4. Blend with a fork until flour is moistened.

  5. Turn onto waxed paper or cutting board and knead until smooth.

  6. Set half to the side and roll out remaining dough to desired size and shape.

  7. Turn over onto baking dish and fill with desired mixture.
