Recipe Ingredients for Navy Bean Soup

1 lb. dry navy beans
2 cups diced ham
4 cups mashed potatoes
3 medium onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Recipe Directions for Navy Bean Soup

  1. Soak beans overnight in 3 quarts water.

  2. Drain beans.

  3. In a large soup pot put ham bone with meat equaling about 2 cups and beans.

  4. Add 2 quarts cold water and simmer for 2 hours.

  5. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer all for 1 hour more.
