Recipe Ingredients for Navy Bean Soup

1 lb. navy beans
6 oz. ham
1 onion
3 quarts water
2 tsp. black pepper
2 tsp. salt, added after cooking to taste

Recipe Directions for Navy Bean Soup

  1. Boil left over ham bone for a couple hours.

  2. Remove bone and chop up ham into water

  3. Quick soak beans by bringing to a boil,

  4. then turning off with the lid left on.

  5. About 2 hours later you can cook the beans.

  6. Add chopped onion.

  7. Bring beans to a boil,

  8. then simmer until tender - about 2-3 hours.

  9. Add pepper and salt to taste.
