When you use organic butter, chocolate, eggs, chocolate chips, and unbleached flour---these are organic brownies. Or you can go completely the other way and instead of honey and molasses use 1 C of sugar. When you're trying to get off processed sugar, however, these are a chocolate FIX!

Recipe Ingredients for Natural Sugar Microwave Brownies

1/2 cup butter, unsalted
3 oz chocolate, unsweetened
2 eggs
3.33 oz honey
1.66 oz molasses, black strap
1/2 cup flour, all purpose
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 Nonstick cooking spray

Recipe Directions for Natural Sugar Microwave Brownies

  1. Put the butter and chocolate into a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds to melt the chocolate. Set aside.

  2. Easy measure of honey and molasses: you want a total of 2/3 cup, that's 2 parts honey, 1 part molasses. Fill a glass measuring cup 2/3 of the way up to the 2/3C measure, then complete the 2/3C with molasses. Mix together well. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and honey and molasses.

  3. In a large bowl sift the flour with the baking powder and salt. Add the egg and chocolate mixtures along with the vanilla and stir well to combine.

  4. Spray an 8 by 8 by-2-inch microwave safe glass pan with cooking spray. Pour the batter into the pan, spread it out evenly, and scatter the chocolate chunks on top. Cook on high for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and let rest for 3 minutes before cutting and eating.
