Naan Recipe

An Indian bread recipe I got from my friend.

Recipe Ingredients for Naan

1/2 cup warm water
2 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup canola oil
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1 large egg

Recipe Directions for Naan

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the water, yeast, and sugar and let stand for 5 minutes.

  2. Stir in the yogurt, flour, salt, oil, and egg and stir, then knead until soft and pliable. Cover with a tea towel and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

  3. Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces and, on a lightly floured surface, roll out each piece into an oval.

  4. Cook each naan in a hot skillet drizzled lightly with oil until blistered and cook, flipping as necessary.

  5. These freeze beautifully, so once cooled, you can wrap them in plastic wrap or in plastic baggies and place them in the freezer. Heat an oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and reheat for about 2 minutes, until just heated through.
