Naan Bread Recipe

Made with a mix of whole wheat and white bread flours. Dough made in bread machine Note: 3 grams lite salt is actually 1/2 tsp of any blend 50% sodium chloride, 50% potassium chloride. Salt is needed when making bread.

Recipe Ingredients for Naan bread

3/4 cup warm water
3 tbsp warm water
3 tbsp powdered milk
3/4 tsp sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 grams lite salt
1 tbsp clarified butter
1 cup bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp dry yeast
1 tbsp clarified butter

Recipe Directions for Naan bread

  1. put water, powdered milk, sugar, salt 1 tbsp clarified butter (ghee), flour, and yeast in bread machine in order as directed by bread machine instructions. Start dough cycle.

  2. When dough is completed, remove knead briefly, transfer to a lightly greased bowl, cover with cling wrap and store in fridge 2-4 hours. Remove once about one hour in and knaed and return to fridge.

  3. Heat oven as hot as possible with pizza stones, at least 500 degrees farhenheit. Preheat a minimum of 20 minutes to be sure stones are hot!!!

  4. Divide dough into 8 balls, using flour as needed. Roll each ball into circle about 1/4 inch thick.

  5. Cook on pizza stones about 3 minutes, until browned lightly on top and puffy.

  6. When done brush lightly with remaining tbsp of clarified butter.
