So good and healthy! I will never eat instant oatmeal again!

Recipe Ingredients for My version of Alton's steel cut oatmeal

1 cup steel cut oats
3 cups water
1/2 cup low fat milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon wildflower honey
1 tablespoon butter

Recipe Directions for My version of Alton's steel cut oatmeal

  1. in a seperate pot boil 3 cups of water

  2. while water is boiling melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a saucepan

  3. add 1 cup steel cut oats to butter and sautee until browned

  4. add 3 cups of boiling water and reduce heat to low

  5. let simmer uncovered on low for 30-40 minutes

  6. add 1/2 cup milk, vanilla extract and honey stir once

  7. let simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes

  8. serve with brown sugar or plain!
