Indian Cheese with Peas in Tomato Sauce

Recipe Ingredients for Mutter Paneer

1 3/4 cup Sweet Peas

Recipe Directions for Mutter Paneer

  1. Finely chop the onion, jalapeno, ginger and garlic.

  2. Cut paneer into 1/2 inch chunks. In a small amount of olive oil, fry paneer until golden in a sauce pot, stirring occasionally. When done, remove paneer from pan and place and paper towel to soak excess oil.

  3. To the same pot, add onion, jalapeno, ginger and garlic. Cook until onion is translucent.

  4. Add tumeric, curry powder and cumin to the onion mixture, and stir for one minute until fragrant.

  5. Add can of unsalted, undrained diced tomatoes. Heat and simmer for 3 minutes.

  6. Add 2 cups of water. Bring back to a simmer. When at a simmer, stir the paneer into the tomato-onion mixture. Simmer for 3 minutes.

  7. Add the drained can of peas. Bring back to a simmer, partially cover, and hold for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  8. It is done when it is the right consistency for you.
