Indian gujrati style snack made from squash and flours, then steamed. Healthy and nutritious and very satisfying. (can use 1/4 cp besan flour and decrease semolina flour by 1/2 cp)

Recipe Ingredients for Muthia

1 cup cabbage,shredded
2 cups wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup semolina flour
2 tablespoons green chili peppers , grated
1 tablespoon gingerroot, grated
3 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
6 tablespoons canola oil
2 cups nonfat plain yogurt
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Recipe Directions for Muthia

  1. First grate the gourd.

  2. Then, add all ingredients except the 2 extra tablespoons.

  3. This is used to coat your fingers before making the long peices to steam.

  4. After mixing all ingrediants to make a thick batter.

  5. Shape into long thin rolls with your fingers using the oil so the dough does not stick.

  6. Then place into steamer and steam for 45 minutes or until cooked. Let sit for a few hours before enjoying!
