Before you begin, rinse them well and look them over. Discard any with open shells. They should all be tightly shut before you add them to the pot.

Recipe Ingredients for Mussels

2 ribs celery, chopped add to shopping list
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon All-Purpose Seasoning
1 pinch ground black pepper
2 pounds mussels, washed well
1 cup dry white wine
2 tablespoons chopped dried parsley

Recipe Directions for Mussels

  1. In a large pot, combine the celery, onion, water, oil, all-purpose seasoning, and pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. Add the mussels, wine, and parsley. Reduce the heat to medium. Cover.

  3. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the mussels have opened. Discard any that haven't opened.
