Recipe Ingredients for Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small yellow onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, crushed and then minced
1/2 teaspoon crushed red peppers
28 ounce crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried basil
8 oz. sliced mushrooms

Recipe Directions for Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat

  2. add onions and saute until soft, about 5 minutes

  3. add mushrooms and saute until soft, about 3 minutes

  4. add garlic and saute another minute

  5. add salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes and stir until just blended

  6. add tomatoes and paste and stir until blended

  7. add oregano and basil and stir until blended

  8. simmer over low heat, approximately 15 minutes
