Use this creamy mushroom sauce to top steaks or other hearty cuts of meat.

Recipe Ingredients for Mushroom Sauce for Steaks

1/4 lb portabella mushrooms, minced
1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
1 oz bacon fat
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried parsley
1/4 cup white whole wheat flour
1 cup 1% milk
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Recipe Directions for Mushroom Sauce for Steaks

  1. Fry the mushrooms and onion in bacon fat.

  2. In a small bowl, stir flour into 1/2 the milk.

  3. Slowly pour milk mixture over mushrooms and onions. Stir.

  4. Stir in seasonings.

  5. Cook and reduce the sauce on low heat. Add remaining milk and Worcestershire sauce until desired thickness is achieved.

  6. Pour over steak and enjoy!
