Fresh and tasty sauce with lots of veggies that is fantastic over pork, chicken or steak. Quick and easy to prepare! Exchange for your favorite mushrooms, my store was out of any good creminis today so I used button.

Recipe Ingredients for Mushroom Red Wine Sauce

2 1tsp Olive Oil
1 medium raw Onion Red
6 medium White Button Mushrooms Packaged
1 clove Garlic
1 glass (3.5 fl oz) Wine, Table, Red
1 1/2 cup Chicken Stock
2 medium (4-1/8" long) Onions, Spring Or Scallions
3/4 oz Gold Medal All Purpose Flour

Recipe Directions for Mushroom Red Wine Sauce

  1. Heat oil over med heat.

  2. Saute red onions, garlic and mushrooms until sweated out and brown.

  3. Season with a pinch of salt, fresh ground pepper, one bay leaf and a good pinch of red pepper flakes.

  4. Deglaze pan with red wine and reduce until nappe.

  5. Sprinkly flour and continue to stir for a few minutes to cook the starch in the flour.

  6. Whisk in the stock until completely combined and no lumps.

  7. Continue to stir over medium heat until sauce comes to a bubble.

  8. Reduce heat to low and simmer for ten minutes for flavors to combine.

  9. Add green onions in the last minute or two.

  10. If sauce is too thick then add a splash more stock or water until desired consistency.
