Recipe Ingredients for Mushroom Crostini

1/2 pound mushrooms
1 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tbs parsley, minced
1 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoons margarine
1 pepper to taste
6 slices white bread, what Italians call pane in cassetta
1/2 cup flour
4 tbs milk, divided
3 tbs mayo
1/4 cup Canola Oil

Recipe Directions for Mushroom Crostini

  1. Use a doughnut cutter to cut rounds from the slices of bread. Put the rounds on a rack, sprinkle them with milk (they should be moist, but not dripping), and let them rest for about an hour.

  2. Finely slice the mushrooms, and sauté them with the oil, margarine, and garlic. When they have wilted, stir in the parsley and season to taste, then remove them to a warm place.

  3. Dip the bread rounds in the mayo milk mixture and then the flour, and fry them until golden brown. Drain them on absorbent paper.

  4. Lay a spoonful of the mushrooms on each of the rounds and serve the crostini immediately.
