Mum's version of 'alternative' to pumpkin pie with pear as sweetener

Recipe Ingredients for Mum's Butternut Pear Pie yummy

250 g wholemeal flour
125 g flora original
4 tbsp water
30 g flora original
1 large egg
1 pear
1 tbsp single cream
1 tbsp fructose
1 tbsp plain flour
200 g butternut squash

Recipe Directions for Mum's Butternut Pear Pie yummy

  1. Boil butternut squash pieces in saucepan until soft.

  2. Drain and mash into thick paste, or use hand mixer to blend.

  3. Preheat oven to 180C.

  4. Rub in margarine and flour to make breadcrumbs consistency.

  5. Add 2-4 tbsp iced water to form pastry dough.

  6. Roll into round, place in greased pie dish and press to fit. Cut off surplus pastry to make neat edge.

  7. Cream margarine and sugar, then add egg and beat mixture until bubbly and blended.

  8. Mix in pear, cream, flour, butternut squash paste and brandy.

  9. Spread onto pie base and cook for 40 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and filling is risen.

  10. Cool on wire rack.

  11. Best served after it has cooled, as flavours do not come out when still warm.
