Replaced sesame seeds with pine nuts, left out sunflower seeds, used 3/4 cup skim milk instead of 2%.

Recipe Ingredients for Multigrain/oat/maple/honey bread, take 2

1/2 cup water, warm
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 package yeast
3/4 cup milk, skim
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
3 1/2 tsp vital wheat gluten
1 tsp pine nuts
2 tbsp bulgur wheat
1/4 cup unprocessed bran

Recipe Directions for Multigrain/oat/maple/honey bread, take 2

  1. Put warm water in large bowl; add yeast, vegetable oil, honey, and maple syrup. Mix.

  2. In separate bowl, mix together salt, oats, flours, wheat gluten, chopped pine nuts, bulgur wheat, and unprocessed bran.

  3. To yeast mixture, add milk and egg; mix.

  4. Add flour mixture to yeast mixture; mix well.

  5. Knead for about 8 minutes, adding flour as needed.

  6. Let rise in oiled bowl for 1 hour.

  7. Punch down dough, form into loaf, and put into greased loaf pan. Let rise for 1 hour.

  8. Bake at 375F for about 35 minutes.

  9. I tried adding chopped sunflower seeds to this; not a good idea. I will try this recipe again as written above, leaving out the sunflower seeds. Another possible addition to try: flax seeds.
