Recipe Ingredients for mujadara

1/4 cup olive oil
2 yellow onions
1 cup lentils
1/2 cup basmati rice
2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions for mujadara

  1. heat olive oil, add finely chopped onions and caramelize.

  2. meanwhile, put lentils in a small pan and add water until lentils are covered by an inch. bring to a boil, reduced to simmer for 20 mins (undisturbed). drain, set aside.

  3. when onions are done add rice, lentils, water and salt.

  4. simmer covered until water is absorbed and rice is tender.
