Traditional Lebanese lentil rice dish.

Recipe Ingredients for Mujadara

1 cup brown basmati rice
4 servings lentils
3 tbsp olive oil
2 onions
1/4 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Mujadara

  1. Thinly slice the onions into long strips. Saute over medium low heat with the olive oil, stirring occasionally, until caramelized; about 45 min to an hour.

  2. Meanwhile, put lentils and 3.5 cups of water in a large pot over medium heat. Bring to a boil and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.

  3. Add rice and continue to simmer until soft and cooked through.

  4. Stir in salt and top lentil/rice mixture with onions.
