Mozzarella and Tomato Salad Recipe

AKA Caprese Salad, depending on how it's made (taken and altered slightly from food network or chefs.com)

Recipe Ingredients for Mozzarella and Tomato Salad

1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
6 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp. fresh chopped basil
1/2 tsp. fresh oregano
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 pinch crushed red pepper
3 cloves minced garlic
8 ounces fresh mozzarella
4 tomatoes

Recipe Directions for Mozzarella and Tomato Salad

  1. Mince garlic and place for 15-20 minutes in balsamic vinegar

  2. Cut tomato into slices or wedges

  3. Drain mozzarella if needed

  4. Combine vinaigrette ingredients (oregano, black pepper, red pepper, and salt) with the garlic and balsamic vinegar (stir very well before pouring over salad)

  5. If tomatoes are sliced, cut mozzarella into slices and place along with basil leaf on top of each tomato slice

  6. If tomato is cut into wedges, cut mozzarella into cubes, chop basil and mix in a bowl with with tomatoes

  7. Pour vinaigrette over tomato & mozzarella and serve
