Moqueca is a Brazilian seafood dish, comprised of coconut milk and Dende-Oil sauce and cooked white fish with big shrimps. Serve with rice and "Pirao" (some of the resulting sauce mixed with mandioca flour).

Recipe Ingredients for Moqueca de peixe com camarao

500 grams Fish, Tuna, Fresh, Yellowfin, Ahi
500 grams Coconut Milk
2 medium whole (2-3/5" dia) Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
1 cup, chopped Peppers, Sweet, Red
3 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
125 grams Shrimp, Mixed Species
32 grams mandioca (sweet potato) flour

Recipe Directions for Moqueca de peixe com camarao

  1. cut tomatoes and onions in circles, fry for for 3 minutes in 1tsp of olive oil

  2. add Dende-Oil, after 2min add coconut milk, cook for 10min

  3. add fish filets (Cacao, Abadejo, etc., frozen ok)

  4. after 10min add shrimps

  5. after 8min add fresh parsley, fresh coentro if you have some, salt, pepper to taste, and you are done.

  6. separate some of the sauce in a separate pan, mix in the mandioca flour to obtain a soft pure, called "Pirao".

  7. * careful: do not cook the shrimps for more than 8min, otherwise they become hard.
