This is an altered recipe from a Rogers flour bag. It makes a wonderful whole wheat bread. I use fresh ground flour as I grind my own wheat.

Recipe Ingredients for Mom's Whole Wheat Bread Recipe

4 cups warm tap water
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp yeast
1/3 cup olive oil
4 tsp salt
8 cups whole wheat flour
3 cups unbleached white flour

Recipe Directions for Mom's Whole Wheat Bread Recipe

Add ingredients to a large bowl in order listed. Using a heavy duty mixer on low, knead until dough is smooth and elastic. Will seem a wee bit sticky, but not really. Grease a very large bowl, grease well, put dough into bowl, grease top of dough cover with wax paper and two clean dish towels. Let rise 1 hour or until double. Punch down and divide into 4 loaves. Let rest. Grease 4 loaf pans. Knead each piece of dough into a loaf shape and put into pans. Grease tops. Cover as before and let rise 40 minutes or until doubled. Preheat overn to 375* and cook for 35 minutes. Remove from pans and cook on wire racks.
