This is a hearty filling stew that my mom makes. It great cause you can throw it all in in the morning and it will be ready when you get home.

Recipe Ingredients for Mom's Slw cooker Beef stew

1 pound beef steak
2 carrots
3 potatoes
6 pearl onions
14 oz beef broth ( from beef soup base)
1 cup flour
3 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 clove garlic minced
1 stalk celery
8 oz green beans

Recipe Directions for Mom's Slw cooker Beef stew

  1. cube beef steak and mix with 1 tbsp. flour

  2. place in skillet with 1 tbsp olive oil and brown

  3. transfer beef into crock pot

  4. fill crock pot with water, a little more then half way

  5. add 3-4 tablespoons of beef soup base flavoring (to specific taste)

  6. Chop potatoes into large cubes add to crock pot

  7. Cut carrots into cubes or slices add to crock pot

  8. peel pearl onions, leave whole and add to crock pot

  9. add salt pepper

  10. cover set on low and cook for 6-8 hours

  11. optional add the celery and green beans

  12. once cooked take 1 cup of flour and mix with water to make gravy base

  13. add mixture slowly, stirring until desired thickness is reached
