Tasty pasties. Kind of like hot pockets, only not nasty.

Recipe Ingredients for Mom's Pasties

6 T butter
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 t salt
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 potato, chopped
1 dash salt
1 dash black pepper

Recipe Directions for Mom's Pasties

  1. Dough: Rub 6 T cold margarine into 1 1/2 c flour sifted with 1/2 t salt until crumbly. Use pastry cutter or fingertips so marg doesn't melt. Add cold water by drops while you toss the mix with a fork until the dough just holds together. Too little and it is too crumbly, too much and the dough will be sticky. Keep cool til use. Divide in 6 or 8, roll out thinly to about 6" circles on floured board.

  2. Filling: Mix 1 lb ground beef with 1 med chopped onion and 1 large, peeled, chopped potato, salt and pepper. Divide in 6 or 8 and place on 1/2 of each circle to within about 1/2" of the edge. Dampen edge with water, fold over, press with fork to seal, trim evenly and either leave or push in to form points.

  3. Put on greased cookie sheet, use fork to make two or three rows of holes in top and bake at 350 degrees until done, about 40 minutes I think.
