2 cups self-rising flour
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Mom's Homemade Buttermilk Biscuit

  1. Cut shortening into flour mixture until crumbly. Make a well in bowl in the middle the flour.

  2. Pour buttermilk into well. and slowly mix just until moistened.

  3. Turn out on a floured surface, rolling out and cutting with biscuit cutter.

  4. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes (or less) if needed until light brown.
