Traditional SOutherna macaroni and cheese

Recipe Ingredients for Momma's Macaroni Pie

1 1/2 cups uncooked macaroni
4 tablespoons light butter
1 pound cheddar cheese, sharp, grated
2 eggs
1 cup 2% milk
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 pepper to taste

Recipe Directions for Momma's Macaroni Pie

  1. Cook macaroni until done

  2. While still hot, add the margarine & all but 1/2 cup cheddar. Mix well.

  3. Beat the eggs & add to the macaroni mixture.

  4. Add milk & seasonings.

  5. Return to stove & cook, stirring, over medium heat for 3 minutes.

  6. Pour into greased 1 1/2 quart casserole & sprinkle with remaining cheese.

  7. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese has melted - about 20 minutes.
