Recipe Ingredients for Mixed Vegetable Saaru

3/4 cup lentils
5 tsp curry powder
2 tsp tamarind paste
3 medium potatoes, diced
2 medium carrots, diced
1 cup french beans, chopped
1/2 cup broccoli, chopped
1/2 medium onion, diced
2 medium tomatoes
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
4 tsp safflower oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped

Recipe Directions for Mixed Vegetable Saaru

  1. cook lentils in pressure cooker with a pinch of turmeric

  2. meantime, chop all veggies, add all veggies (except onions and tomatoes) to a pot of boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Now add salt and curry powder, and tamarind paste. cook for 15 more mins or until veggies are soft.

  3. Heal oil in a pan , splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds, ad onions and tomatoes and fry till done.

  4. add this to the pot of veggies. add cilantro. serve hot
