Mixed Dal is a unique combination of different dals, goes well with steamed rice and curry

Recipe Ingredients for Mixed dal

3 tbsp green bean,split
3 tbsp Urad Dal
3 tbsp pigeon pea, split
3 tbsp Chickpea, split
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 pinch of Hing
1/2 cup Onions, diced
2 Tomatoes, diced
1 tbsp Ginger, chopped
2 tbsp Chili, chopped
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp Chilli Powder
1/4 tsp curry powder
3 cup Water
1 tbsp oil
1 Salt to taste

Recipe Directions for Mixed dal

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the dals and wash them properly. Soak the mixed dals in water for about an hour.

  2. In a pressure cooker, heat water and add the mixed dals. Add turmeric powder and salt to it.

  3. in a pan, heat ghee and add asafetida and cumin seeds. Once the seeds sputters, add onions, garlic and green chilly and fry for two minute.

  4. Add tomatoes and fry for about a minute till they get mushy. Next, add red chilly powder.

  5. Put the above made mixture to the dal. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on low heat till the dal gets soft.

  6. The delicious Mixed Dal is ready to serve with steamed rice or hot rotis
