My easy recipe for rye bread. Makes one loaf.

Recipe Ingredients for Mild rye bread with salt

2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
2 tbsp molasses
2 tbsp honey
1 1/2 cups whole grain rye flour
2 cups bread flour
1 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Mild rye bread with salt

  1. Mix salt, molasses and honey with 1 1/4 cup warm water.

  2. Add yeast and let dissolve.

  3. Add rye flour and mix in.

  4. Add bread flour until dough is ready to knead.

  5. Knead dough until elastic and let rise until doubles in size. About 1 to 1.5 hours.

  6. Punch down and knead dough again. Shape into a loaf and let rise to 1 and 1/2 starting size, about 45 minutes.

  7. Score loaf and bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes.
