My wife stole this from a restaurant she used to work at....amazingly tasty and easy to prepare! Great for a cold rainy day! This not particularly healthy, but its great in small portions...and it's great to take the left overs to lunch the next day...

Recipe Ingredients for Midge's German Tomato Soup

4 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp salt
1/2 lb Cooked Deli Ham
1/2 lb elbow macaroni
3 tbsp flour
1/2 cup white onion
28 oz stewed tomatoes
3 cups milk

Recipe Directions for Midge's German Tomato Soup

  1. 1. finely chop 1/2 cup of onion

  2. 2. slice ham into small cubes

  3. 3. get stewed tomatoes in a pot on the stove over low-med heat

  4. 4. cook elbow macaroni in another pot (al dente)

  5. 5. heat butter over low-med heat and add onions.

  6. 6. once onions are cooked through, slowly stir in flour until it is incorporated well. next, slowly stir in the milk and other seasoning (salt, pepper, sugar). bring to a boil and cook until nice and thick.

  7. 7. slowly stir in the stewed tomatoes into the pan with the rest of the ingredients.

  8. 8. pour over the noodles and ham and serve!
