Michele's stew for cold winter days

Recipe Ingredients for Michele's Beef Stew

1 1/2 pound lean beef
10 ounce diced tomatoes, no salt added
4 oz. tomato sauce
2 cups sliced carrots
1 small onion
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 cup lentils
1 cup arborio rice or pearl barley or orzo

Recipe Directions for Michele's Beef Stew

Put the beef in a crock pot or roasting pan at 325 and cook for several hours. About 1 hour before serving, add the carrots, tomatoes, onion, basil, lentils, and barley. Continue cooking until the lentils and barley are completely cooked.
