My grandmother's beloved and famous apple pie! YUM!

Recipe Ingredients for Mema's Apple Pie

3 lbs apples
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 egg

Recipe Directions for Mema's Apple Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Peel & core apples.

  3. Stew apples with 1/4-1/2 c. sugar & 1 tsp. cinnamon & a splash of water over medium heat, stirring regularly.

  4. Cream & crumb sugar, butter, egg, flour, baking powder, & salt.

  5. Press crumb crust into bottom & sides of 2 pie tins.

  6. Fill crusts w/stewed apples.

  7. Sprinkle remaining crumb crust on top & sprinkle cinnamon on top if desired.

  8. Bake at 350 until golden brown (~1 hour).
