Recipe Ingredients for Meatless TVP Meatballs

2 cups TVP
2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp parsley flakes
2 tsp minced onion, dry
1/2 tsp anise seeds
1 tsp garlic granules
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp liquid smoke
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 stalks celery, minced
1/2 cup onion, minced
1 1/2 tsp beef bouillon
1/2 cup breadcrumbs, italian flavored
1 tbsp cornmeal
1 1/2 cups water, boiling
1 tbsp egg replacer
6 tbsp water

Recipe Directions for Meatless TVP Meatballs

  1. Mix first 12 ingredients in a large bowl. Stir to combine thoroughly.

  2. Combine next three dry ingredients in a glass measuring cup. Stir to combine thoroughly. Carefully pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water into the measuring cup. Whisk to combine, then pour this onto the TVP mixture.

  3. Combine the egg replacer and water, whisking thoroughly. Then pour this into the TVP mix. Allow this to sit for 15 - 20 minutes to absorb the moisture.

  4. Preheat the oven to 450F. Spray a metal baking sheet with nonstick. Form TVP mixture into balls about 1 1/2" in diameter. Spray finished balls with a little nonstick to promote browning. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove sheet from oven, and carefully flip each ball. Spray again with nonstick, and return to the oven for another 10 minutes, until the second side is crispy.

  5. Remove from the oven, and add your favorite sauce! These freeze well, and can be reheated in the microwave. A serving is five balls,
