Recipe Ingredients for Meatballs

500 g extra lean minced beef
2 slices sourdough bread
1 medium onion
1 egg
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1 pepper
1 clove garlic

Recipe Directions for Meatballs

  1. Chop the onion very fine and mince the garlic. Soak the bread in water very briefly and then squeeze out as much water as possible and crumble it up,

  2. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Shape the meatballs with wet hands. If they are golf ball sized that will make about 12. To serve with pasta make them walnut sized.

  3. Bake in the oven in a roasting dish at 190 C for 15 minutes.

  4. If serving with pasta, pour over tomato sauce or passata (add the calories separately) and cook covered in sauce for a further 15 minutes.
