Classic meat sauce (Easy Italian from Betty Crocker). Serving size is 1/2 cup.

Recipe Ingredients for Meat Sauce

2 serving Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tbsp Butter
2 medium Carrots
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
10 oz Mild Italian Sausage
8 oz Ground Beef - 85% lean
28 oz Tomatoes Italian Diced with Olive Oil Garlic and Spices
28 oz Tomatoes Italian Diced with Olive Oil Garlic and Spices
28 oz Tomatoes Italian Diced with Olive Oil Garlic and Spices
0.5 cup Soup, Beef Broth Or Bouillon
1 tsp Salt, Table
1 tablespoon Oregano
0.5 tsp Pepper, Black

Recipe Directions for Meat Sauce

  1. Heat oil & butter over medium-high heat in a 4 qt Dutch oven until butter is melted. Cook carrots and onion in oil mixture, about 8 minute, stirring occasionally, until carrots & onion are tender.

  2. Stir in sausage and beef. Reduce heat to medium. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink & beef is brown. Drain.

  3. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Use sauce immediately, or tightly cover & refrigerate up to 48 hours or freeze up to 2 months.
