This is a basic meat loaf that is a favorite in our family. I use lean ground beef, at least one egg beater, and limited salt.

Recipe Ingredients for Meat Loaf - "Lang Loaf"

1 1/2 pounds 90% lean ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup egg beaters
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
6 ounces tomato sauce
1 1/4 cups oatmeal
1 large onion
1/4 red bell pepper
1/4 green bell pepper

Recipe Directions for Meat Loaf - "Lang Loaf"

  1. Put egg and egg beater in large bowl.

  2. Beat the eggs lightly.

  3. Chip onions and peppers.

  4. Add all remaining ingredients.

  5. Mix with hands until ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Shape into a loaf.

  6. Put into 7 x 11 x 1.5 inch pan.

  7. Bake at 350 for 50 - 60 minutes.

  8. I drizzle catsup over the meat loaf for the last 15 minutes of baking, but it's not necessary.
