This meat loaf is a substitute for those who don't eat meat. Adjust the bread crumbs depending on how moist you like the meat loaf. Ketchup can be substituted for barbecue sauce. I usually use the lowest sugar bbq sauce I can find.

Recipe Ingredients for Meat Loaf with ground turkey

2 lbs lean ground turkey
1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 eggs
1 onion
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Recipe Directions for Meat Loaf with ground turkey

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Whisk 2 eggs together.

  3. Chop one onion into small pieces.

  4. Chop one clove garlic into very tiny pieces or use a garlic press.

  5. Mix all ingredients (except oil) LIGHTLY together.

  6. At this time put any desired spices like salt, pepper, basil, thyme, garlic powder--whatever suits your taste buds).

  7. Mix any desired spices together

  8. Rub vegetable oil on meat loaf pan (bread loaf pan).

  9. Put the mixture in the pan.

  10. Bake for 45 minutes and check to see if it needs more time. The redness inside should be gone. Don't overcook or it will be too dry.

  11. About 15 before done, you can spread a think layer of bbq sauce or ketchup on top.

  12. I always put a cookie sheet line with foil under the meat loaf pan while cooking to help with spills.
