Tasty low calorie tacos aren't easy. This is just one way of meeting your intake goals while still eating your favorite foods. Crumbles do a good job of replacing the meat taste when seasoned, but aren't the right texture. To combat this, add the non-fat shredded cheese while still in the skillet. Makes six tacos.

Recipe Ingredients for MB Vegetarian Tacos

12 oz Meal Starters Grillers Recipe Crumbles
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
8 tsp Old El Paso Seasoning Mix Taco
1/2 cup Free Cheese
8 serving White Corn Taco Shells
1 cup Salsa

Recipe Directions for MB Vegetarian Tacos

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable or canola oil to your skillet. On medium heat, add package of frozen Crumbles, stirring often.

  2. When the crumbles are almost completely cooked, add the taco seasoning. It's important to do this before the cheese, since the cheese makes it hard to distribute. If you do it too early, though, some seasonings will burn since we're not adding water.

  3. As your tacos reach temp, add shredded fat-free cheese. This will help the Crumbles clump correctly and mimic the texture of ground beef.

  4. Take off the flame and place filling in shells. La Tiara shells have only 35 calories each and no sodium, which is ridiculously difficult to match.

  5. Garnish with salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and so on. Try to avoid the sour cream--it will undo all your efforts.

  6. Enjoy your tacos guilt free.
