The banana acts as a substitute for sugar (so it's a thumbs up for anyone who loves a sugar fix in the morning!) and a stomach fulfilling feeling by the end of the meal, which will stop mid-morning cravings for a quick energy fix (i.e. chocolate, soda pop or crisps) and keep you energised until lunchtime because they are full of slow-release energy, like the oats. This breakfast is an all-round winner, healthy and tasty.

Recipe Ingredients for Mashed banana porridge

50 g banana
1 tsp ground ginger
50 g Porridge Oats Scottish Breakfast Cereal

Recipe Directions for Mashed banana porridge

  1. After weighing out the ingredients, take a saucepan and fill with 300ml of Water and boil over the hob.

  2. When it is bubbling, tip in the oats and lower the temperature so that the oats won't burn. Simmer for about 7-15minutes (depending on the fierceness of your hob).

  3. Whilst the oats are cooking, take the banana and mash it in a bowl.

  4. When the water has been fully-absorbed into the oats, pour into a bowl and add the banana and the ground ginger.

  5. Mix well, and serve immediately.

  6. Enjoy!
