One loaf's worth of bread dough will make eight rolls

Recipe Ingredients for Marzipan breakfast rolls

4 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup flax seed, milled
1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup rye flour, whole grain
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp yeast
2 3/4 cups water
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tbsp sugar
200 g marzipan

Recipe Directions for Marzipan breakfast rolls

  1. Mix yeast, salt, sugar, olive oil with lukewarm water.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients. Pour in the yeast-water mixture and mix well. Allow to rise one hour, then refrigerate (anywhere from two hours to a week).

  3. When ready, take one quarter of the dough. Form into 4 balls. Roll out each ball into a round (use extra flour to avoid sticking). The diameter of each circle of dough should be a little more than twice the width of the marzipan brick.

  4. Use one 200g brick of marzipan from Ikea. Cut off 1/4 of the brick. Cut that piece into eight slices.

  5. Place two slices of marzipan lengthwise across each circle of dough. Roll it up, taking care to tuck a little dough over the ends of the marzipan so the marzipan is completely enclosed by dough.

  6. Bend into a crescent shape and place on a greased pan. Allow them to rise about 45 minutes.

  7. Bake 22 minutes at 375.
