Recipe Ingredients for Mark Bittman's no knead bread

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 tsp. instant yeast
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp honey

Recipe Directions for Mark Bittman's no knead bread

  1. Combine all ingredients in a big bowl and cover. Leave in a warm place overnight between 12 and 18 hours.

  2. After first rise, use a well-floured spoon to gather dough in a ball. Turn onto a well-floured sheet of waxed paper and let rise 1-2 hours.

  3. 30 minutes before baking preheat over to 450 and put in a dutch oven or covered pyrex into the oven. Once preheated add dough and cover.

  4. After 30 minutes remove lid and bake an additional 15 minutes until loaf is well browned.
