I use leftover roasted chicken so I only coat the mieat and quickly brown it before adding other ingredients.

Recipe Ingredients for Mariam's General Tsaos Chicken

1 serving sun bird general taos chicken seasoning
2.25 piece Roasted Chicken Thighs
1/2 breast, bone and skin removed Chicken, Breast, Meat Only
1/4 cup Sugars, Granulated
3 tbsp. reduced sodium soy sauce
1/8 cups flour
3/4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
3 medium (4-1/8" long) Onions, Spring Or Scallions
1 tsp Spices Crushed Red Peppers

Recipe Directions for Mariam's General Tsaos Chicken

Coat leftover chicken with flour and add to a pan with the oil heated to medium high. Since my chicken is cooked I only need to brown it off. While that is browning, in a bowl combine seasoning, sugar, soy, and water. Set aside. I remove chicken and add the hot pepper seeds to the oil. It releases the oils and you get a much hotter and I think better flavor. You may omit hot pepper seeds. Once the seeds hit the oil they will turn brown so remove and add the chicken and prepared mixture to the pan. Bring sauce to a boil and then simmer until desired consistency is achieved. I add my green onions now and reserve one of the tops to garnish. Serve over whole grain brown rice.
