A wonderful dessert cake for any occasion.

Recipe Ingredients for Marbled Pound Cake

1 1/4 cup butter, softened
2 1/2 cup sugar
5 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
14 tablespoons 1% lowfat milk
1/4 cup baking cocoa

Recipe Directions for Marbled Pound Cake

  1. Cream butter and sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy.

  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Beat in vanilla.

  3. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating well after each addition, until you get a creamed mixture.

  4. Remove 2 cups of batter to a small bowl; add cocoa to this and mix well.

  5. Spoon a layer of white batter into a greased and floured 10 inch fluted or tubed pan. Top with spoonfuls of chocolate batter. Continue with remaining batter. Swirl mixture with a spatula or knife to get a marbled look.

  6. Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and ten minutes for tube pan or 1 hour and 30 minutes for fluted pan. A cake tester should come out clean when inserted into center of cake.

  7. Let cool ten minutes and then invert onto a cooling rack. Cool completely.

  8. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar prior to serving for a perfect finishing touch.
