Yummm... we added a few extra chips to part of the batch for those who like actual "chips" in their cookies... the rest we did swirl.

Recipe Ingredients for Marble Cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
1 large egg
1/2 cup (4 oz) sour cream
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Marble Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 300F.

  2. In medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt with wire whisk. Set aside.

  3. Combine sugars in a large bowl using an electric mixer set at medium speed. Add butter and beat until batter is grainy. Add egg, sour cream and vanilla, and beat at medium speed until light and flufy. Scrape bowl. Add the flour mixture, and blend at low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. Place chocolate chips in double boiler over hot but not boiling water. Stir constantly until melted. Or, place chips in a microwave proof bowl and miscrowave on high, stirring every 20 seconds until melted.

  5. Cool completely for a few minutes and pour over cookie batter. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, lightly fold melted chocolate into the dough. Do not mix chocolate completely into cookie dough.

  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 23-25 minutes. Do not brown. Quickly transfer cookies to a cool surface.
