Recipe Ingredients for Maplecorn

12 cups popped popcorn
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp maple flavouring

Recipe Directions for Maplecorn

  1. Preheat oven to 250F (120C). Lightly grease a large roasting pan.

  2. Place popcorn in prepared pan; set aside.

  3. In heavy medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, maple syrup and salt.

  4. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil, without stirring, for 5 minutes. Watch carefully that it doesn't boil over.

  5. Remove from heat; stir in baking soda, vanilla and maple flavouring.

  6. Drizzle over popcorn; stir until evenly coated.

  7. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely; break into pieces. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 1 month.
