Recipe Ingredients for Maple Apple Walnut Cake

1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup applesauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup skim milk
2 medium apples, chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons walnuts, chopped fine

Recipe Directions for Maple Apple Walnut Cake

  1. cream oil, applesauce and sugar, add syrup,egg whites and vanilla, beat well.

  2. in a separate bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder,cinnamon and salt

  3. add to butter mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. stir in apples. spread in a 11x7 pan that has been greased and floured.

  4. Mix the last 5 ingredients and sprinkle over the top of cake batter.

  5. bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes
